At the highly successful ASMEX 2017 conference, the Australian Commercial Marine Industry last night awarded business excellence in the industry at the annual Awards Gala Presentation Dinner held in Sanctuary Cove. Over 260 guests gathered to acknowledge and support outstanding achievements in the Australian Marine Export, Superyacht and Commercial Industries. The night was enjoyed by all with great conviviality after a day of inspiring presentations from leading industry professionals from around the globe.

Ms Maryanne Edwards AIMEX CEO said “We received an excellent number of quality entries for our awards this year. This appears to reflect genuine enthusiasm within the industry as our Commercial Marine & Defence Maritime members see positive signs of improvement in trading conditions, and long-awaited contracts begin to become reality. Our ACMG members include Primes and SME’s, and the networking opportunities at this conference and at our ongoing events are a real highlight for all”.

18 entries were received from Queensland with seven of those coming in from the Gold Coast; 11 and entries were received from New South Wales; two from Western Australia; two from Victoria and one from Tasmania.

Justin Parer from BSE Maritime Solutions received recognition for his contribution to the commercial marine sector being awarded the Industry Champion for the Commercial Marine Sector. Justin Parer has been involved in the commercial maritime industry for nearly 20 years as Owner and Managing Director of BSE Maritime Solutions. BSE has developed several shipyard facilities in Australia and as a direct result of Justin’s drive and support, the Cairns Marine Industry is now able to proceed with vital infrastructure expansion and upgrade.

Steber International. Steber’s export sales in the 2016-17 period will be around 200 percent up on the previous year with a further doubling expected for 2017-18. The company currently services 12 overseas countries – Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji, Malaysia, Japan, Dubai, Qatar, Seychelles, Mauritius and China.

Commercial Marine Industry Service Provider:

Sydney City Marine. This award was gratefully accepted by Brenton Fisher and Kym Fleet and acknowledged their achievements servicing commercial, government and privately owned vessels in their top tier, full service facility in the heart of Sydney.

Most Innovative Commercial Marine Industry Product or Service:

Britton Maritime Systems has been established since 1987 and specialises in the manufacture, maintenance and integration of military / law enforcement and commercial craft.

Highly Commended Most Innovative Commercial Marine Industry Product or Service:

SOS Marine. SOS Marine provides a new approach to improving safety and rescue equipment for both waterfront professionals and the marine leisure industry.

The awards night was a true showcase of the best of what the Australian Commercial Marine Industry has to offer, and gave ultimate recognition to the achievements of these companies and individuals.
