AMSA would like to know what you think about options for changing the survey regime for domestic commercial vessels. The options are outlined in a regulatory impact statement (RIS).

The options proposed in the RIS highlight potential opportunities to achieve a better balance between prioritising safety, and implementing changes that would result in time and money savings for industry.

The RIS looks at:

  • the types of domestic commercial vessels that require survey
  • how often surveys are conducted
  • the type of survey that is conducted when one is required
  • when survey by a Classification Society is required.

The RIS along with a draft revision of Marine Order 503 and other supporting material is available for review on the AMSA website until 12 October 2015.
