The commercial marine division of Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) proudly sponsored the Royal Institute of Naval Architects at the annual SMIX event in Sydney last week. Australian Commercial Marine Group (ACMG) was a Silver sponsor of the Christmas networking event that was held on board the unique 19th century iron barque “James Craig” in Darling Harbour.

The fine weather and warm Sydney harbour conditions, brought naval architects, boat builders, marina operators, marine engineers, project managers, designers, and other marine consultants to the event to enjoy a social atmosphere with industry colleagues.

Stephen Vincent (Muir Winches), Jeremy Spear (Spear Green Design) and Steve Mitchell (Sydney City Marine) all members of the ACMG committee were in attendance as well as ACMG Commercial Manager Suzette Sutton.  The annual event is seen as an important part of the fabric of the marine sector.  Steve Mitchell noted that it was encouraging to see a lot of younger professionals at the event and that it was important to be supporting this initiative.

The newly formed ACMG was developed to support companies focusing on the commercial and defence sector and to ensure a strong voice to Government to enable the growth and sustainability of the industry.
