International combination of skills proves a winning formula, with Australia-based company increasingly acting as a client representative for offshore builds.

Australia’s Silverstar Marine has been contracted to provide client onsite representation services to the Netherlands build of a ferry for a North American client. The vessel, which is being built by Damen, is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2018.

“Once again we have been able to provide a customised package of services to meet the precise requirements of our client,” says Simon Knight, Silverstar Marine managing director.

“We are looking forward to being part of the team to deliver this exciting project.”

With the international nature of the project making communication with stakeholders the key to the its success, Silverstar Marine will be tasked with maintaining a clear flow of information between the yard and the client. Based onsite in Gorinchem during the build, Silverstar’s extensive commercial experience enables it to ensure the vessel build meets all of the client’s needs, while meeting its build schedule and budget.

There’s been increasing demand for the Australian company’s skill as a client representative within international build yards.

In 2017 it was contracted to act as the onsite representative during the build of a 56-metre fast ferry for Förde Reederei Seetouristik (FRS) of Germany. Currently in-build in the Phillipines, it is due for delivery in 2018.

“It’s great to see that in the world of large commercial builds, as well as superyacht builds, clients are increasingly recognising that a combination of skills and experience from around the world can deliver the best results,” adds Knight.

“Our experience allows us to understand the client’s needs and help the yard interpret those requirements for the smoothest build process possible for all involved.”
