The Australian Trusted Trader (ATT) program which simplifies trade for exporters has now commenced and is open to all Australian businesses active in the international supply chain.
Developed by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, in consultation with industry, ATT gives exporters faster clearance and easier access to their goods at foreign ports.
The program is free to join but businesses must have an Australian Business Number (ABN), two years of trading history and be financially solvent.
The voluntary trade facilitation initiative recognises businesses such as importers, exporters, domestic or international freight companies, ports, airports and brokers, with a secure supply chain and compliant trade practices.
Accredited businesses recognised as Trusted Traders are rewarded with a range of trade facilitation benefits:
- a dedicated account manager
- priority service when requesting advanced rulings on tariffs, valuation and origin
- differentiated and prioritised examinations
- Mutual Recognition Arrangements (upon signing)
- use of the Australian Trusted Trader logo.
Mutual Recognition Arrangements, which are being established between the Australian Government and our key trading partners, will enable Trusted Traders to access trade facilitation benefits of the reciprocal trading partner.
The added benefit for Australian exporters entering foreign markets is the reduced customs regulatory burden; which enhances the facilitation and control of goods moving in the international supply chain.
