ASMEX 2015 is less than two weeks away and with an outstanding line up of international and national key speakers this event is not to be missed. The line-up of speakers at the conference is nothing short of impressive and will certainly provide the industry with some insights into the global market and what opportunities exist for Australian companies.

The high calibre group of speakers and industry proponents gathered from around Australia and globally will present up to date figures and insights relevant to your sector, covering topics regarding opportunities, trends and developments in foreign markets including Asia and Europe, covering the export, superyacht and the commercial defence sector.

AIMEX CEO MaryAnne Edwards said “Our line-up of Australian speakers this year is also fantastic, with key Australian personalities like Wes Moxey, CEO Riviera, who will provide a candid insight into Riviera’s current strategies, how they are driving success in the business, the importance of where the dollar sits, the importance of training in the industry and the key markets where Riviera see opportunities.  We are also excited by the fact we have a number of high level government representatives attending the conference highlighting the interest the Australian government is now having in the marine sector.”

Taking the stage will also be Mark Stothard MD of Echo Yachts in Western Australia, which is fast becoming the home of superyacht building in Australia.  Their 84m superyacht project is now well underway and boasts the accolade of being the largest ever superyacht project undertaken in Australia. It is also one of the larger Trimaran Superyachts ever undertaken in the world. It is styled externally and internally by award winning Sam Sorgiovani Designs, and Naval Architecture designed by One 2 Three Naval Architects.

Making it a trio of key Australians speaking will be Mark Richards who will close the conference on Wednesday. Since 2005 the names Wild Oats XI, and Mark Richards, have been synonymous with the famous Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, one of the world’s most challenging and gruelling ocean races.  As of 2014, Wild Oats XI, skippered by Mark Richards, has won a record eight Sydney to Hobart races. But, it is not just ocean racing or any other form of sailing that only connects Mark Richards to the marine industry. Richards is the founder of Palm Beach Motor Yachts and in 2014, Grand Banks Yachts Limited acquired a 100% stake in Palm Beach Motor Yacht Co Pty Ltd Australia and has welcomed Mark Richards as the CEO of the enlarged group. Grand Banks Yachts is a global brand well known for its vast experience in manufacturing and selling luxury motor yachts.

Another key development within the conference is the focus on the commercial defence sector with some key sessions highlighting what is needed to take advantage of the opportunities within this sector and what message needs to be taken back to government to better support this key sector and make it globally competitive.

Adam Watson, Manager Australian Industry, Global Access Program, BAE Systems Australia will also take to the stage providing an insight into doing maritime business in the BAE Systems Global Supply Chain with particular emphasis on the principles such as timeframes and expectations to be successful as a supplier within the BAE global supply chain.
