ACMG recently met with the Industry Capability Network to discuss Navantia increasing its presence in Australia and its focus on securing a mutually rewarding long term relationship with the Australian Defence Force.

Navantia is actively involved with the Through Life Support (TLS) of the Canberra Class Amphibious Assault Ships, HMAS Canberra and HMAS Adelaide and it has an active role in supporting the Air Warfare Destroyers (AWD) during their operational life. Navantia is also supplying 12amphibious mechanized landing craft to support the HMAS Canberra and the HMAS Adelaide when it enters service.

Furthermore at this stage, Navantia is one of two contenders for the supply ship replacement project (SEA 1654) which is estimated to be contracted by the first quarter of 2016.  Although it is foreseen that the project will be built abroad, Navantia recognises that this is an Australian project and Navantia aims to engage with and be supported by the Australian industry for it to be successful.

Navantia in collaboration with ICN, AIDN, is developing its supply chain and is seeking information from Australian Industry to assist Navantia in achieving a thorough understanding of the relevant capabilities of Australian Industry.

ACMG will endeavour to keep members informed of progress however in the meantime to be considered for the various stages of Navantia’s Australian projects, we strongly encourage you to sign up through the ICN website and send an Expression of Interest to list your capabilities.
