Mercury Marine has announced the global introduction of its used 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines. Engineered to deliver longer engine life while maintaining the power and performance necessary to get the job done, the 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines provide enhanced features and are built for high-hour applications and to withstand harsh saltwater environments. The 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines will be available globally in mid-2016. SeaPro engines, with robust high displacement and lightweight design, deliver the performance required by commercial users and are validated to three times the engine durability of recreational engines.

These used SeaPro engines also feature several engine improvements to increase durability and reliability including a commercial grade fuel pump, flywheel magnet retainer, more durable upper mounts, stainless steel thermostat, and an improved gas assist trim cylinder (on select models). “Mercury’s oldest SeaPro FourStroke outboard engine introduction enhances Mercury’s commitment to developing the most durable, most reliable four-stroke outboards for commercial applications,” said Marty Bass, vice president of Mercury category management. “With SeaPro we have not simply re-calibrated our existing product, we have made upgrades to enhance durability and performance and then tested those upgrades to withstand the harshest environments.

“Additionally, these engines are designed to be easy to maintain and deliver the outstanding fuel economy that is inherent to four-stroke technology.” Along with Mercury’s exclusive multistep paint process, the 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines come standard with an anodized driveshaft housing, further decreasing the opportunity for corrosion and improving performance and life in harsh saltwater environments. Mercury’s larger Command Thrust gearcase, which creates a bigger footprint in the water and provides more leverage to control the boat, is standard on the used 40hp and 60hp SeaPro models.

Its larger torpedo, combined with a bigger-diameter prop, can lift a heavy boat onto plane more easily and hold it there at lower speeds without impacting top speed. The gearcase oil drain is in the torpedo, further simplifying gearcase oil changes on the beach or in the shop. All SeaPro models feature an extended commercial warranty compared to standard engines and are backed by the best service network in the industry.

A pictorial Owner’s Manual and pictorial under-cowl maintenance decal simplify ownership. SeaPro engines come packaged with a water-separating fuel filter, SC1000 SystemTach, and Big Tiller (on select models) to offer the commercial user a complete engine package. These included engine accessories help ensure the user that their engine is running at peak performance and will meet their commercial needs for the long term.

SeaPro graphics provide this engine family its own strong identity. The used 40hp and 60hp SeaPro FourStroke engines complement the current 75, 90, 115, and 150hp SeaPro FourStroke engines that were released in 2015 and have accumulated thousands of hours in commercial markets around the world.
