The Australian Commercial Marine Group (ACMG) proudly sponsored the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA) and The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMAREST) at the annual SMIX event on board the ‘James Craig’ in Sydney on Thursday 1st December.

As the key event of the year for the commercial sector, this sold-out event brought out naval architects, designers, and other senior level professionals from marine related businesses who service commercial vessels. ACMG Committee members Stephen Vincent from Austral Propellers, Jeremy Spear from Spear Green Design were in attendance as well as AIMEX President Richard Chapman from Coursemaster Autopilots and Hydrive Engineering.

Events such as this are encouraging for the next generation who get the opportunity to network with experienced professionals. A RINA prize in recognition of their best judged paper written during 2016 was presented to a student at AMC. Jeremy Spear said “it was pleasing to see such a great turn out by professionals in the industry.  Networking has become a key part of all organisations strategies to understand opportunities and gain industry knowledge.

ACMG is dedicated in supporting its members through the promotion of Australia’s shipbuilding and ship repair capabilities including infrastructure, services and manufacturers of a range of commercial vessels and associated marine equipment to ensure consistent growth and development of all facets of the industry.
