Established in 1977, Tropical Reef Shipyard (TRS) is a privately owned ship repair, refitting and maintenance company servicing a diverse range of commercial, government and navy vessels.

The company is one of the leading repair and maintenance shipyards in Australia. The capacity to service vessels to 100 metres in length and 3000 tonne in weight on the slipway positions us as the largest capacity facility along the northern coast of Australia between Sydney and Dampier.

Our company is one of a very small number of preferred suppliers to both the Royal Australian Navy and US Army. Our Status as a preferred supplier provides TRS with a competitive advantage over other shipyards operations and demonstrates the quality of TRS’s highly skilled workforce. Quality management and constant reinvestment are major drivers of the business.

Our facility is one of only four in Australia as well as the only facility in Queensland that has attained and been awarded the Department of Defence DEF (AUST) 5000 accreditation for slipping and docking of Naval Vessels.
