The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and the Australian Commercial Marine Group (ACMG) represented Australia’s commercial marine capability at Asia Pacific Maritime, held from 25 – 27 March 2026, at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

The timing aligned well with ACMG’s recent release of the Economic Impact Study (EIS), commissioned by the AEC Group, which highlights Australia’s commercial marine industry as a $51 billion sector supporting over 137,000 jobs, reinforcing the strength and capability showcased at Expo and Conference.

AIMEX and ACMG’s participation highlighted Australia’s expertise in advanced marine manufacturing, design, engineering and technology solutions at the exhibition and conference which brought together over 800 exhibitors in 20 Pavilions with over 20,000 attendees, hosting shipbuilders, vessel operators, suppliers and technology providers from across the global commercial marine sector.

Joining the Australian delegation were AIMEX and ACMG members, including Ayres Composites, Capral Aluminium, Control Point Rescue, International Maritime Services, Greencorp – Prop One, HyDrive Engineering, Hypac, Integ Marine Group, Marine Air Flow International, Poly Flex Group and Spear Green Design.  Also in attendance were Globatech Australia, Hullbot, Marine Lifestyles and Marine Protection Systems and Muir Anchoring Systems.

Together, these businesses represented a cross-section of Australia’s commercial marine supply chain, delivering world-class products and services across vessel design, engineering systems, propulsion technology, composites, glazing, ventilation and advanced materials.

Clayton Vladich, Director, Control Point Group, commented on their attendance: “As a first-time Australian company exhibiting internationally, The Control Point Group was unsure what the outcomes might be from attending and were thoughtfully positioned between two experienced exhibitors on the AIMEX stand who provided with invaluable support and advice from the outset.  What transpired next was unbelievable, we were inundated with global interest in our Cairns-based innovation, which far exceeding all expectations.

At an expo dominated by systems and components designed to improve ships, the Sukkagon was one of the few solutions built to improve how people work on them. This was noticed and embraced by commercial shipyard owners and operators, senior executives, safety, compliance and governance leaders, as well as defence and naval decision makers.

We are excited to attend future exhibitions with the AIMEX team to highlight to the world that Australian companies are up there with the best of them.”

Prior to the exhibition, members benefited from a tour of PT Bahtera Bahari Shipyard on Batam Island where barges and tugboats were the focus of their commercial construction.  Batam is home to one of the highest concentrations of shipyards per square kilometre in the world and the visit provided delegates with valuable insight into the scale and pace of regional shipbuilding activity, while creating opportunities to strengthen relationships across Southeast Asia’s growing maritime sector.

Highlights of the Conference and Expo included the opening address by Ang Wee Keong, Chief Executive, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, who addressed state of the global economy and the heightened uncertainty facing supply chains, with disrupted vital shipping routes and energy supplies.  Day one concluded with a strong turnout of AIMEX and ACMG members at the welcome drinks, where businesses connections were continued to be made after an already strong start to the event.

Jeremy Spear, President of AIMEX and Director of Spear Green Design, commented on the show; “APM continues to reinforce its position as Southeast Asia’s premier commercial maritime trade event, delivering strong, measurable value for Australian marine manufacturers looking to start up or expand within the region. For AIMEX and ACMG members, this translated into tangible outcomes — from heightened brand recognition and high-quality lead generation to the development of meaningful, long-term supplier relationships across Southeast Asia.

With a prominent, well-positioned presence on the show floor, AIMEX and its member companies showcased the strength and capability of Australia’s commercial marine sector. Exhibitors reported solid engagement from regional buyers and decision-makers, with several first-time participants noting immediate traction and strong market recognition. For Australian marine manufacturers seeking to grow their footprint in Southeast Asia, APM represents a strategic, results-driven platform that should not be overlooked.”

Participation at Asia Pacific Maritime formed part of AIMEX and ACMG’s ongoing international engagement program, supporting Australian marine businesses to expand export opportunities, build strategic partnerships and showcase the innovation and capability of Australia’s commercial marine industry to the global market.
